To protect the civil rights and civil liberties of New Yorkers, the NYCLU files lawsuits in federal and state courts across New York. Our cases range from massive class-action lawsuits that involve tens of thousands of people and last for decades, to individual cases that may be resolved in months. All of our cases, however, share a common goal: to vindicate important rights enshrined in the United States Constitution, in federal law, in the New York Constitution, and in New York state and local laws.
