Representative Bishop – Can you hear us now?

The Suffolk County NYCLU ATF and our allies—who are no strangers to immigration fights—are taking to the phones today to remind Representative Tim Bishop (D-1st) that support for comprehensive immigration reform in his district is alive and kicking.

With at least 100 constituent calls planned for today, we are sure the good Congressman (and his receptionist) will get the message that his district is demanding immigration reform this year that:

  • provides a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants;
  • restores due process and fairness to the immigration system;
  • reforms the immigration detention system and creates safe and just alternatives;
  • ends local enforcement of immigration law, and
  • rejects backdoor attempts to ram through a national biometric identity card for American workers.

Even if you miss today’s call-in day, feel free to give the Congressman a ring to let him know you support immigration reform this year—particularly if you live in the 1st Congressional District (here’s a map of the district on the Congressman’s website).

To make your activism just a bit easier (that’s what we’re all about here at the NYCLU!), here are the Congressman’s district office numbers:
