This fall, New Yorkers will head to the polls to elect leaders to chart our city’s course through the coming years.

New York City faces many daunting problems. Yet, the challenge of how to effectively promote and defend New Yorkers’ civil rights and liberties is often one of the most difficult and controversial to tackle.

The office of public advocate for the City of New York sits right at the center of that challenge. The public advocate’s office serves as a direct link between the citizens of this city and its government - effectively acting as a watchdog for all New Yorkers.

Note: The NYCLU is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse candidates for public office.

Host committee: New York Civil Liberties Union, Common Cause New York, Drum Major Institute, Justice Action Center at New York Law School, and New York Public Interest Research Group.

Endorsing Organizations: Asian-American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), Correctional Association of New York, Council on American-Islamic Relations - New York, New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy, Sikh Coalition, Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, Urban Justice Center, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, Advocates for Children of New York, Association of Legal Aid Attorneys - UAW 2325, Children's Defense Fund, National Lawyers Guild - New York City Chapter, American Constitution Society - New York City Chapter, The New York Immigration Coalition, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, New York Chapter.
