Comprehensive Sex Education

The Reproductive Rights Project believes that New York’s young people deserve sex education that is age-appropriate, medically accurate, and comprehensive.

New York receives the third largest pool of federal money dedicated to funding abstinence-only-until-marriage programs -- which have proven ineffective in lowering rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections -- and no money for comprehensive sexuality education programs.

We are working at the state and local levels to fight for funding for comprehensive sex ed in New York, to stop the flow of abstinence-only dollars, and to ensure that all New York youth are provided with the information they need to make healthy decisions should they become sexually active.
