New York Power Summit : Grassroots Organizing Training For The LGBT Community

Nov 29 2007 - 8:00am / 5:00 pm

Thursday, November 29 - Sunday, December 2

The Leadership Summit is an intensive 3 1/2 day grassroots organizing training and action program for people, organizations and coalitions who are highly motivated to build powerful state and local campaigns. The training will focus on cutting-edge skills and strategies necessary for developing a strong campaign to win at the ballot box and in the legislature and will teach participants how to analyze the appropriate scale that’s needed to win in your state, city or community.

Around the country, opponents of LGBT equality in the state legislatures must hear the unified, unwavering voice of the LGBT movement in order to start voting with us, instead of against us. New York needs to be the leader in this movement — not the follower — and it all starts with teams of people willing to step up to the plate and show lawmakers what true solidarity really is.

The training will be held in a location to be announced in Nassau County, Long Island, N.Y. Free parking will be made available during the days of the training, as well as transportation to and from the nearest LIRR terminal. We will send out directions to the training site and detailed parking instructions closer to the date of the training.
