Join us on Thursday, Oct. 29 for an evening of thoughtful, engaging discussion on the injustice of capital punishment at the 11th annual Schwarzschild Lecture Against the Death Penalty.
This year's lecture will be delivered by best-selling author Thomas Cahill. His latest book, A Saint on Death Row: The Story of Dominique Green, was published this spring and is about his relationship with a Texas death row inmate. The author joined the unsuccessful fight to save Mr. Green’s life, and in the process enlisted the help of his good friend Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Cahill will be introduced by Nan A. Talese, senior vice president of Doubleday and publisher and editorial director of Nan A. Talese/Doubleday.
The annual lectures are held in memory of Henry Schwarzschild,
a lifelong civil libertarian, an ardent advocate of civil rights and an eloquent opponent of the death penalty.
