Getting Legal Assistance

Client Intake Information
The mission of the Genesee Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union is to defend the Bill of Rights and to advocate for individuals whose fundamental rights or liberties have been violated or denied by the government.

The attorneys who participate in the Genesee Valley Chapter legal program are not paid for their services. Therefore, we attempt to concentrate our resources on cases that will benefit others in similar situations. Even cases with significant constitutional merit may not be accepted because of our limited resources. If your complaint is not accepted, it does not mean it is without merit. You may wish to pursue private or public assistance with your case.

All client intake is by phone, mail or e-mail only. Write a one or two page detailed description of the events that have led you to file this complaint, who was involved, the current status of your case and what you would like the civil liberties union to do. We do not accept criminal or family court cases.

Mail your complaint to:

Genesee Valley Chapter - NYCLU

Be sure to PRINT your full name, complete address, phone or email address at the top of your letter.
