Western Regional Office Hosts Community Based Forum: "Your Rights at the Border"

On July 1, the WRO co-sponsored a panel discussion on "Your Rights at the Border" and immigrant's rights at the Erie County Public Library in downtown Buffalo.

Among the featured speakers were Hassan Shibly, a NYCLU intern and law student who was a plaintiff in an NYCLU lawsuit challenging a federal policy that targeted thousands of people who attended Islamic conferences taking place outside the United States in December 2004 for a special terrorism-screening process.

Joining Shibly were Sophie Feal, senior immigration attorney at the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Erie County Bar Association, attorney Alan Bozer from Phillips Lytle and attorney Dan Joyce from Jaeckle, Fleischmann and Mugel. The forum was recorded and can be heard online at www.NYCLUradio.org.
