Young Professionals

The New York Civil Liberties Union Young Professionals is a new program setting out to engage New York City young professionals between the ages of 24 and 40 in defending the civil liberties of all New Yorkers. If you like event planning, fundraising or just socializing with like-minded people, this is the place for you!

In the coming year, this group will undertake new and important projects:
- organizing two fundraising/friendraising events to broaden the awareness among young adults about the scope and importance of the NYCLU’s work;
- supporting the NYCLU’s vital programs and services by raising money; and
- advising NYCLU staff on how to better connect with younger donors and members.

We’re looking for a core group of young NYCLU supporters who can:
- contribute their skills and creativity to the forming and shaping of this group;
- recruit their like-minded friends to join;
- devote at least one night a month to attend planning meetings;
- help organize and market events; and
- invite friends and colleagues to attend events.
Regular meetings are held on the second or third Tuesday of every month, at 7 p.m. at the NYCLU offices at 125 Broad Street, 19th Floor.
We’re also looking for casual members who are interested in attending fun and inspiring events and meeting other young professionals interested in civil rights and social justice. Think wine tastings, art shows, book signings or even a Big Gay Variety Show!
If you’re interested in attending a meeting or an event – or if you have any questions – please contact us at nycluyoungprofessionals@gmail.com. Or you can visit our Facebook group or our MySpace page (coming soon).
We hope to meet you soon!
