Daniel Schwarz is a Senior Privacy and Technology Strategist in the Policy Department of the New York Civil Liberties Union, where he works to fight biased, discriminatory, and invasive technologies and to defend civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age. His work seeks to curtail surveillance in all its forms, provide accountability, empower impacted communities, advance digital equity and justice, and enact legal and policy frameworks that protect and strengthen people’s rights.
He is also an artist whose work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Canada; the Nevada Museum of Art; the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MassMoCA); the Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York; the Goethe Institute, Washington DC; and the Municipal Art Gallery, Los Angeles, among many others.
Daniel holds an M.F.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (2015), and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Media from HdM Stuttgart, Germany.
