Monxell Mariano

Monxell Mariano is the Teen Activist Project Coordinator at the New York Civil Liberties Union’s Education Policy Center. In this role, he oversees the NYCLU’s flagship youth organizing program, engaging over 150 young activists across New York City. Monxell empowers youth through organizing rallies, lobbying efforts, and policy advocacy focused on critical issues such as the school-to-prison pipeline, student rights, comprehensive sex education, and immigrant rights. He facilitates Know Your Rights workshops and student-led presentations, equipping members with the skills and confidence needed to engage with elected officials and drive change.

Monxell holds a degree in Anthropology and Human-Centered Design from Dartmouth College. Throughout his academic career, he was deeply involved in social impact initiatives, collaborating with nonprofits and healthcare providers to support the local community. Monxell is passionate about amplifying student voices and advocating for their needs at every level, from kindergarten through high school.
