Santiago Lopez
Santiago Lopez is a Paralegal at the New York Civil Liberties Union. He supports litigation and advocacy efforts by assisting attorneys with case development, client communication, and legal research, including providing bilingual support to Spanish-speaking clients. His work focuses on ensuring that individuals’ experiences are clearly documented and carried forward into civil rights litigation.
Prior to joining the NYCLU, Santiago worked as an Intake Counselor at the ACLU of Northern California, where he conducted client interviews through the Civil Liberties Hotline, documented potential cases, and connected individuals to legal resources and referrals. He also served as a Policy and Planning Fellow at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice, where he conducted research and produced policy analysis on housing initiatives affecting working-class and immigrant communities.
Santiago earned his B.A. in Political Science, with a concentration in American Politics, and a minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
