The Trump Administration is Cuffing Politicians Officials Who Speak Up for Immigrants

In recent weeks, we’ve seen the Trump administration attempt to silence its critics, including members of Congress and other lawmakers, as well as protestors through arrests and other legal threats. CNN reports that at least five elected officials have been arrested or confronted by police while protesting ICE’s tactics or Trump’s anti-immigrant policies.

But that won’t stop people from speaking out against ICE’s dangerous raids and other brazen arrest tactics in our communities.

The administration’s disproportionate use of force against people questioning ICE and standing up for their communities is disgraceful. It sends an unmistakably authoritarian message – that ICE doesn’t care about the law or justice and that anyone exercising their right to challenge ICE and speak up for immigrants will be punished.

We should all condemn this actions which are a direct threat to democracy.

Stop the Unfounded Arrests of Public Officials

Targeting elected officials and judges for defending our rights and opposing the president’s abuses is straight out of an authoritarian’s playbook – and we must act immediately: Tell the Trump administration to stop these abuses of power now.
