Nicole Triplett is a policy counsel in the Advocacy Department, working primarily on human rights and criminal justice issues.

Prior to joining the NYCLU, Triplett clerked for the Honorable Bernice B. Donald of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and practiced at a law firm before starting the clerkship.  While in law school, she was selected as co-chair in her law school’s civil rights clinic and led her team to successfully litigating a whistleblower protection case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Between 2009 and 2011, she worked for the U.S. House Judiciary Committee as its Press Secretary and later as its Communications Director, managing messaging on a wide range of civil rights and criminal justice related issues including sentencing reform, voting rights, and immigration reform.  In this capacity, she wrote op-eds, press releases, and talking points on behalf of Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.), as well as oversaw the Committee’s social media platforms.  Her work also significantly contributed to raising public awareness surrounding professional football-related head injuries and their long-term effects on the brain.

Triplett graduated with honors from Howard University in 2009, and from Howard University School of Law in 2014.
