This on-going series on the criminal legal system will be facilitated by Susan Gottehrer, Director of the Nassau County Regional Office of the NY Civil Liberties Union. She will guide participants to a more complex, nuanced, and humane understanding of the issues of community safety in the context of police reform, bail reform, sentencing, and parole reform.

February 23: Community Safety and Police Reform: Did George Floyd’s murder make a difference in Nassau County?

March 9: Community Safety and Bail Reform: The Truth Matters

March 23: Community Safety, Mandatory Minimums, and Parole Reform.

Participants will learn about solutions that create real community safety.
