Too many incarcerated New Yorkers endure conditions that threaten their health, safety, and human dignity. Incarcerated people, including minors, have experienced the trauma of solitary confinement, sexual and physical abuse by corrections officials and other prisoners, the shackling of pregnant people, and inhumane housing conditions.

Through litigation, advocacy, and legislation, the NYCLU fights to improve the conditions in which incarcerated must people live and to stand up for their rights.
