The Trump administration is rigging federal immigration and asylum processes in order to keep immigrants and asylum-seekers in New York locked up, even though many fled violence, persecution, and discrimination in other countries. The administration has changed the rules to try to deny people bond hearings and set unaffordable bond, and to continue to hold people who have not gone before judges. This violates people’s rights and leaves them stuck in the system indefinitely.
The NYCLU is taking the Trump administration to court for violating immigrants’ and asylum-seekers’ due process, and calling out the administration’s cruelty when it comes to people seeking refuge.
