WHO'S UNDER THREAT
Every New Yorker deserves the same rights and protections under the law. The NYCLU is a leader in protecting and fighting for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The denial of rights and protections to LGBT individuals and their families fundamentally undermines the freedom of all New Yorkers.
HOW WE'RE ACTING
The NYCLU works on a local and state-wide level. We use a multi-pronged strategy of litigation, legislation, community organizing and public education, including trainings and hosting events. Thanks to the active participation of both LGBT and straight-identified New Yorkers, the NYCLU has made great strides in helping LGBT citizens and their families feel safe and free at work, at school and at home in their own neighborhoods.
