The ACLU has been at the forefront of workers’ rights for a century, fighting for the rights of workers to speak out against abuse and exploitation, and to be free from employer retaliation when they do.

The NYCLU advocates in the courts and the state legislature for fairer treatment, stronger protections, and essential rights such as paid sick leave and paid family leave for all working New Yorkers. We fight to expand farmworkers’ rights, including the right to collective bargaining, at least one day of rest per week, and overtime pay.
