Schools should be places where students are included, respected, and supported. But in New York, students lose hundreds of thousands of days in the classroom each year because of suspensions, often for normal youthful behavior.
These punishments disproportionately impact Black and Latinx students and those with disabilities.
Join advocates for a town hall to talk about solutions that hold students accountable, allow them to learn from their mistakes, and keep them in the classroom. We’ll also discuss ways to create a positive school environment where diversity is embraced and respected.
