NYCLU Statement on Gov. Cuomo’s Budget Amendment to Fund Early Voting

ALBANY – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today a budget amendment to fund early voting across New York state. The proposed action will provide $7 million in the FY 2019 budget to fund early voting in the 12 days leading up to Election Day.

“Busy New Yorkers should not have to choose between work, family, and personal obligations and their right to vote. Early voting has widespread public support, and now, with Governor Cuomo’s budget commitment behind it, Albany has the chance to expand participation in our democracy across our state.”
