RRP Launches Real Sex Ed Postcard Campaign

The campaign identifies the weaknesses of the New York City public schools’ new health curriculum, “Health Teacher,” which was developed in Tennessee: it contains numerous medical inaccuracies, fails to address birth control or disease prevention for middle school students, leaves out any mention of issues facing LGBTQ youth, and does not reflect the racial diversity of New York City youth.

The postcard campaign demands that Department of Education Chancellor Klein fix the Health Teacher Curriculum’s medical inaccuracies and cultural insensitivities. In the interests of creating an inclusive campaign, we seek to mobilize parents, teachers, young people and civil libertarians.
