Transparency and access to information play a fundamental role in upholding our democracy. In addition to supporting freedom of the press and legislations that promote transparency and access to information, the NYCLU regularly engages in information and data collection through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, partnerships with other groups and other research initiatives.

As part of our efforts to increase transparency as well as combat the unprecedented threats posed by misinformation, the NYCLU will make government records that are critical for public decision-making available to the public.

This page will house a forthcoming database of the NYCLU’s recent FOIA requests,  information received through these requests, and raw data and corresponding analysis that belong in the public sphere.
