
City schools getting safer as major crimes fall 7%and violent crimes drop by 6%
Even as the city has seen its murder rate climb, the most serious crimes in schools continued to fall sharply, the Daily News has learned…"One has to wonder why, if crime is down, the Department of Education's budget includes a significant increase in school safety and cuts in instructional staff," said New York Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Donna Lieberman.
