A furious, 50-bullet fusillade occurred as four police officers and a gunman shot it out in Harlem early Sunday morning – leaving one man dead and six others, including two officers, injured by gunfire...In a statement, the New York Civil Liberties Union said the police were on track to stop “a record number of totally innocent New Yorkers,” considering that majority of stops do not lead to the police making an arrest or issuing a summons. “A practice that wastes an officer’s valuable time with a 90 percent fail rate – while at the same time humiliating hundreds of thousands of black and brown New Yorkers – is not a wise or effective policing technique,” said Donna Lieberman, the executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union.
