NYPD Marks All-Time Low In Shootings
In 2010, New York City police shot fewer people than in any year since the department started tracking such statistics four decades ago...Christopher Dunn, associate legal director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said: "We have long recognized the NYPD's success in reducing the number of officer-involved shootings and these numbers are further proof of that. Nonetheless, the fact that virtually everyone shot at by the police department is black or Latino is a serious concern and requires a much more detailed examination of the role of race in the NYPD shootings."
