Every year, New Yorkers who are in the midst of a mental health crisis and in desperate need of help are instead killed by police. There is a much better and more compassionate way to handle these situations. Join community members, advocates, and elected officials for a community wellness event to honor New Yorkers killed by police while they were in distress and advocate for the passage of Daniel’s Law. This critical legislation is named after Daniel Prude who was brutalized and killed by Rochester Police in 2020. The event will raise awareness for a more effective and humane approach to mental health crises.
