Rally for the Right to Learn!

Hands off Our Students! Hands off Higher Ed!

Come to the Foley Square rally on April 17th @ 4pm, part of the National Day of Action for Higher Ed!

NYC educators, students, workers, and allies are rallying in defense of higher ed co-organized by the US Association of University Professors and faculty unions from the New School, Columbia/Barnard, and other NYC schools.

We are rallying to assert our rights to learn, to teach, to research, to associate, and to protest. We are building a future for higher education free from coercion, censorship, transphobia, racism, and anti-immigrant hate.

We say NO to Trump’s illegal abductions of students and faculty for their pro-Palestinian speech; NO to deadly cuts to scientific research; NO to discriminatory anti-DEI policies; NO to the ban on trans people; NO to Trump’s xenophobic immigration crackdown; NO to MAGA attacks on public education.

We say YES to a free university, open and accessible to all. We are taking back our schools.

From Brooklyn College to Fordham, New York City is a COLLEGE town. From the AFT to PSC/CUNY, from the AAUP to the UAW, it’s a UNION town and from Bushwick to Washington Square, it’s an ANTI-FASCIST town. Institutional leaders may be silent, but we — the teachers, students, researchers, and staff of New York City — are here to say: HANDS OFF HIGHER ED AND HANDS OFF OUR STUDENTS

As bold as the spirit of New York, we are the NYCLU.
