NYCLU and NOLSW UAW Sign First Union Contract

NEW YORK CITY – Today the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) and the National Association of Legal Services Workers, UAW, Local 2320 (NOLSW) together proudly announced the signing of a first union contract.

“When we first started organizing a union four years ago, we knew we wanted to make sure that equity and workers’ rights were at the heart of everything we built towards as a unit. We are proud to say that this contract goes a long way to ensure the core values which we espouse in our external advocacy are also reflected internally,” said the NYCLU bargaining committee in a joint statement. “This agreement solidifies and expands important benefits and protections for our members, and we look forward to implementing it in the same equitable spirit in which it was created.”

“This agreement makes the NYCLU a stronger workplace and codifies our commitment to fairness, justice, and dignity for our staff, values we fight for everyday across New York,” said NYCLU Executive Donna Lieberman. “The right of workers to organize has been a key part of the ACLU’s mission since its founding more than 100 years ago. We are proud to support that right in our workplace today and to demonstrate what it can achieve.”
