NYCLU to Release Report Assessing Taxpayer-Funded Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Programs in New York State

The report, Financing Ignorance: A Report on Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Funding in New York, chronicles an in-depth investigation of 39 abstinence-only-until-marriage programs statewide that received both state and federal funding through 2006. Based on a review of more than 33,000 pages of state and federal documents, the report concludes with recommendations for strengthening sexual health education in New York State.

Joining members of the NYCLU staff at a news conference explaining the report’s findings and conclusions will be representatives from the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center and Planned Parenthood of New York City, as well as a New York City twelfth grader.
