NEW YORK – In response to Hands Off! rallies taking place today across New York in which the New York Civil Liberties Union is participating, NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman released the following statement:
“We won’t let anyone rob us of our rights or pillage our country without putting up a fight. That’s why the NYCLU isn’t just taking on the Trump administration in court, but we’re also proudly joining Hands Off! rallies across New York today. Trump and his MAGA minions are abusing their power wherever they can, undermining rule of law, punishing dissenters, and gutting government services, from education and social security to Medicaid.
“Hands off immigrants, trans rights, abortion access, poor New Yorkers, and too many others. Hands off our fundamental freedoms. As long as the Trump threat looms, the NYCLU and ACLU will continue to fight back in the courts, in the statehouse, and in the streets.”
