Who Benefits from Legacy Preference?

Legacy preference is the practice of providing an automatic advantage in college admissions decisions to applicants whose family members attended the same college. This practice harms students of color, low-income students, and first-generation students by providing an unfair advantage to students who already enjoy the most advantages in the process.
