Letter to Buffalo Federal Detention Facility re: Preventative Measures against COVID-19

The New York Civil Liberties Union wrote a letter to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York (“Batavia”) to urge administrators to release individuals in their custody who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19, and to ensure proactive plans are implemented to protect the health and safety of those who remain in detention.

The letter argues that the Batavia facility must immediately reduce the detained population as much as possible, and must develop and publicize a detailed plan to prevent COVID-19 exposure at the facility.
