Undisciplined, Unpunished
Civil Liberties Union
The New York Civil Liberties Union has only ever had one answer to all forms of injustice since the organization was founded in 1951 – the U.S. Constitution. Defending the core democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights requires the support of individual New Yorkers, who when faced with injustice, refused to stay silent. Faces of Liberty highlights New Yorkers who have helped to make the NYCLU the leading civil rights and civil liberties advocate in New York State. It is in part due to their bravery that we can enjoy all of the rights and liberties we have today. We are thankful not only for what these brave New Yorkers accomplished in the past, but also for the inspiration they ignite in all future defenders of the Constitution. They are New York’s Faces of Liberty.
