Oppose the Sustainable Affordable Housing & Sprawl Prevention Act

We should all have a say in what gets built in our communities. But in practice, that rarely happens for Black and Brown New Yorkers who, as a result, experience more than their fair share of environmental hazards like polluted air, water, and soil. A well-intentioned bill in the New York State Legislature would further silence the voices of people in what are called environmental justice communities – neighborhoods that have suffered disproportionately from environmental harms. Lawmakers should oppose the Sustainable Affordable Housing and Sprawl Prevention Act.
