Syracuse Is Ignoring Its Lead Water Crisis

In 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a damning report confirming what Syracuse residents have been saying for years: the city is in a lead water crisis. The city’s water system has been violating federal lead safety laws and putting thousands of families, many of them Black and low-income, at risk.

Syracuse residents deserve drinking water free from lead. The city must act with urgency to address the issue.
