Letter to Syracuse & New York State Officials Regarding the Lead-in-Water Crisis

State and local officials have failed to act quickly and sufficiently to protect the health of Syracuse residents who continue to ingest significant amounts of lead from their drinking water, posing an imminent and substantial endangerment to their health. Our requests were simple: First, we sought a declaration of a state of emergency, which would help garner public awareness and public education and unlock additional state and federal resources to accelerate addressing the lead in the water. Second, we asked for immediate provision of point-of-use filters to address the urgent needs of the Syracuse residents. To date, neither recommendation has been met.
