Testimony Before the New York City Council Committee on Children and Youth on Racial Disparities in New York City’s Child Welfare System
Civil Liberties Union
The undersigned organizations, LGBTQ advocacy organizations and gender-affirming care providers, strongly urge Governor Hochul, Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, and Speaker Heastie to pass and sign, respectively, hospital transparency, A.3862 (Rozic)/S.3486 (Hinchey), this legislative session.
Our communities deserve the freedom to control our bodies, and that includes the ability to access the health care we need. While the state must do more to ensure access to gender-affirming care in the face of federal attacks, at a minimum, New York must pass A.3862/S.3486 this year to give our communities the tools to readily identify where we can access this medically necessary care. New Yorkers deserve this information, and it is simply unacceptable that the State does not have it.
