Special Giving Opportunities

Amicus Club

Lawyers and legal professionals are invited to join the NYCLU’s Amicus Club with a donation equivalent to one, five or 10 billable hours. Club events offer members the opportunity to network, stay informed of legal developments in the field of civil liberties and earn CLE credits. For details, email DonorServices@nyclu.org or call 212.607.3374.

The Eastman Society (Leadership Gifts)

Named for the ACLU’s co-founder, Crystal Eastman, the Eastman Society honors and recognizes those patrons who make an annual gift of $5,000 or more. Society members receive a variety of benefits in return for their generous support. For more information, please get in touch with Kerry Watterson, the NYCLU's director of development, via phone at 212.607.3300 or by email at kwatterson@nyclu.org.

DeSilver Society (Planned Giving, Bequests, and Life Income Gifts)

By making a planned gift to the NYCLU you automatically become a member of the DeSilver Society. Named for Albert DeSilver, one of the founders of the ACLU, the DeSilver Society has more than 1,700 members who support the organization through bequests, retirement plans, beneficiary designations or other legacy gifts. This special group of supporters discover that they can make substantially larger gifts than they ever thought possible, while taking a step to secure civil liberties for future generations. Bequests, life-income funds and other planned gifts are a great way for members and friends to support the NYCLU. These gifts provide beneficial deductions and help ensure the future stability of the organization. For more information, please visit the website of the ACLU Foundation Office of Gift Planning, call that office at 877.867.1025 or email at legacy@aclu.org.

Gifts in Memory or Tribute (pdf)

Make a gift to NYCLU in memory of a loved one or to honor a special person, and include a personal message that we will send to them or their family along with a notification of your gift. Your gift will help NYCLU work to ensure the future of civil liberties. For more information, please contact the Development Department by emailing contributions@nyclu.org or calling 212.607.3354.

Guardians of Liberty (Monthly Membership)

In an effort to fight the ongoing challenges to civil liberties during these tumultuous times, many NYCLU members have become Guardians of Liberty by making monthly gifts to the NYCLU to help sustain our work. As a Guardian of Liberty, you will help make sure that no challenge to any of our rights goes unanswered. Your pledge -- made in small, affordable installments -- means you can easily give more to support vital programs throughout the year. It also means your membership will automatically renew! Become a Guardian of Liberty today, or call 212.549.2585 for details.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many companies match charitable contributions of employees and spouses. This is a great way to double or even triple your gift to the NYCLU. If your employer or your spouse’s employer has a matching gift program, please obtain a matching gift form from the appropriate personnel office and mail it to Development Department, NYCLU, 125 Broad Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
