Volunteer
We need you in the fight with us. Volunteer to get involved and advance the civil rights and liberties issues you’re most passionate about.
About Volunteering
We’re powered by people. The NYCLU works on the ground with passionate volunteers in regions across the state to protect the right to protest, defend the vote, fight for immigrants' rights, and more. Sign up to join the movement and learn more about opportunities to strengthen civil rights and liberties in your community.
There are many different ways to be involved in our work as a volunteer
You can become active in your community for a better New York. We have offices and organizers across the state in eight different regions: Capital (Albany), Central (Syracuse), Genesee Valley (Rochester), Hudson Valley, NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, and Western (Buffalo). While some of the issues we work on impact the whole state, other priorities are localized.
Sign up to monitor the policing of protests with the NYCLU
Our volunteer protest monitors serve the vital role of documenting how police respect New Yorkers' right to speak out. Once you sign up, you'll receive training and next steps to get involved.
