For more than 50 years, the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) has served as New York State’s pre-eminent organization devoted to the protection of civil liberties and civil rights. In this era, it is particularly critical that the NYCLU defend our civil liberties, as the Bush administration continually invokes the pretexts of national security and the threat of terrorism to justify the curtailment of constitutional freedoms.

The NYCLU Foundation supports litigation, advocacy, public education and special projects. The NYCLU Foundation does not support legislative lobbying, which cannot by law, be supported by tax-deductible funds.

Join the Eastman Society

Named for the ACLU’s co-founder, Crystal Eastman, the Eastman Society honors and recognizes those patrons who make an annual gift of $5,000 or more. Planned Giving, Bequests, and Life Income Gifts

By making a planned gift to the NYCLU you automatically become a member of the DeSilver Society. Named for Albert DeSilver, one of the founders of the ACLU, the DeSilver Society has more than 1,700 members who support the organization through bequests, retirement plans, beneficiary designations or other legacy gifts. Lawyers and legal professionals are invited to join our Amicus Club with a donation worth one to four billable hours. Club events offer members the opportunity to network, stay informed of legal developments in the field of civil liberties, and earn CLE credits. Gifts in Memory or Tribute

Make a gift to NYCLU in memory of a loved one or to honor a special person, and include a personal message that we will send to his/her family or to the person you wish to honor along with a notification of your gift. Matching Gifts

Many companies match charitable contributions of employees and spouses. This is a great way to double or even triple your gift to the NYCLU.
