Lourdes Chavez
Lourdes Chavez is a senior paralegal at the New York Civil Liberties Union, where she primarily focuses on cases related to immigration issues.
Prior to joining the NYCLU, Lourdes worked as a legal assistant at White & Case in both their New York and Paris offices. There she worked on complex commercial disputes and international arbitration cases as well as a wide range of pro bono cases, including the class action lawsuit brought on behalf of the children in Flint, Michigan poisoned by lead in the water during the water crisis. Before joining White & Case, Lourdes worked as an affidavit of relationship specialist at the International Rescue Committee, where she interviewed prospective clients in Spanish and filed family reunification petitions.
Lourdes graduated from Loyola University in 2016 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. While attending Loyola University, Lourdes was a paralegal at the Esperanza Center for Immigration and Legal Services, where she was worked with law enforcement and local community organizations to help file U Visas on behalf of victims of criminal activity.
