Yves Filius

Yves Filius

Born and raised in the South Bronx, Filius' interest in serving the community began with his parents - Haitian immigrants who taught him that a strong work ethic and intentional civic involvement will always lead to success, no matter one's starting social or economic status. He began his government affairs career over a decade ago as an intern and then Community Liaison for Assemblymember Michael Benjamin.

Filius then worked with Assemblymember Vanessa Gibson, leading field operations for her City Council campaign, and serving as Director of Outreach after her victory. Later, Yves simultaneously served as Special Assistant to NYC Public Advocate Letitia James and Political Director of the NYS Young Democrats Caucus of Color. In 2016, he became the Political Director for the Bronx Democratic Party.

Later, while working in fundraising as Vice President of a boutique political consultancy, Filius realized that his heart truly lies in advocacy and political strategy. He now serves as the staff lobbyist for the New York Civil Liberties Union, where he fights for a fair New York on issues such as immigrants’ rights and due process and justice.

Filius speaks fluent Haitian Creole and is pursuing his Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University.
