Letter Re: Appointments to the New York Court of Appeals

New York’s most powerful state court stands at a crossroads. Three out of the seven seats on the New York Court of Appeals will become vacant in the coming year, and the judges appointed to fill those spots will help shape the direction of the court, and our state, for the next two decades. The Court of Appeals makes critical decisions on policing, immigrant rights, education, privacy, and racial justice that impact the lives of thousands of New Yorkers every day. We have a pivotal opportunity to make sure the Court reflects a deep commitment to the rule of law and the constitutional principles of freedom, equality, and due process that are at the core of our democracy.

As bold as the spirit of New York, we are the NYCLU.
