New York’s Paid Family Leave Program: 2018

New York's Paid Family Leave Program Starts in 2018

New York’s new Paid Family Leave program takes effect January 1, 2018. The program will offer partial paid leave to employees who need time away from their jobs to bond with a new child, care for a close relative with a serious health condition or when a family member is called to active military service.

This NYCLU fact sheet details key considerations of the program, including eligibility and benefits that phase-in over four years. Under the program, employees will be able to continue receiving their health insurance benefits while on leave and return to their jobs after their leave concludes, protected from the threat of termination for taking leave.

As bold as the spirit of New York, we are the NYCLU.
