Sign-on Letter: Comprehensive Sex Education Legislation
The NYCLU, along with several sexual violence prevention, reproductive health, LGBTQ, and civil rights advocates and health care providers, wrote a letter urging Education Chairs Mayer and Benedetto, Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, and Speaker Heastie to co-sponsor S.2584-A/A.6616 and to advance the bill through the Education Committees. This measure would require public and charter schools to teach age appropriate, medically accurate, and inclusive sex education in grades K-12.
