Testimony Regarding The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Workforce

The New York Civil Liberties Union submitted the following testimony regarding the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the workforce. AI, especially Automated Decision Systems (ADS), all too often replicate and amplify bias, discrimination, and harm towards populations who have been and continue to be disproportionately impacted by bias and discrimination. As a result, the use of this technology in the workforce is in urgent need of transparency, oversight, and regulation.

The NYCLU urges the Legislature to pass legislation to create transparency and protections ensuring fair and equitable use of automated decision systems and stands ready to work with sponsors to ensure that this legislation meets those goals.
