Court Ruling Reaffirms CCRB Investigative Power over Misconduct Investigations

On Friday, about 300 high school students from across the region will gather at St. John Fisher College in Rochester for the NYCLU Genesee Valley Chapter’s biennial Liberty Conference – a day-long, event that engages students on the Bill of Rights, civil liberties and the rule of law. “We the Students” is the theme for this year’s conference. The students, who will come from rural, urban and suburban school districts, will participate in small workshops on topics concerning the First Amendment and Fourth Amendment.

The workshops will be led by 20 volunteer facilitators – adults from the community who are committed to helping young people appreciate the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
A keynote address at 9:10 a.m. by Jamia Wilson, vice president of programs for the Women’s Media Center, will kickoff the day.
