ACLU and NYCLU File Amicus Brief in Support of Father Challenging the Termination of His Parental Rights
Civil Liberties Union
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the New York Civil Liberties Union released the following statement, attributable to NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman:
“New York has a long and proud tradition of supporting women’s dignity and equal rights, but sadly, New York today is not a place where little girls from the Bronx to Buffalo can grow up knowing that they will be treated fairly and equally. The New York Civil Liberties Union, working with a diverse group of people and organizations across the state, looks forward to passing a Women’s Equality Agenda that brings together the critical elements of a fair and just society for New York’s women, including fair treatment and pay on the job, no matter how big or small the work environment; protecting against sexual harassment in the workplace and violence at home; safeguarding against human trafficking; and ensuring that every woman has the right to make her own personal and private health care decisions without the interference of politicians or anyone else.”
