NYCLU Writes NYPD About Bruce Springsteen Security Detail

The NYCLU today sent the following letter to the NYPD in response to a report in the Daily News that the NYPD withdrew Bruce Springsteen’s security detail after he performed the song “41 shots” and restored it after Springsteen omitted the song from a subsequent concert.

The NYCLU sought confirmation of the report and asked the NYPD to take necessary steps to ensure that Department officials understand that police protection cannot be contingent on NYPD approval of the content of speech.
